A study of the cloud economy conducted by Microsoft in Europe states that, compared to traditional server IT infrastructures, a cloud platform usually costs 40 times cheaper.
At the same time, owners of medium and small businesses, who have already started using cloud technologies, have confirmed that significant changes for the better have occurred in their business.
In particular, 59% said that their business had become more productive, 57% said they had saved money, and 24% of respondents believed that their companies became more innovative.
Money saved thanks to cloud technology is most often (in 68% of cases) invested in the further development of the company. The business uses these additional tools to develop a product line, new services and other similar tasks. Interestingly, the researchers were able to refute the widespread belief that cloud computing is cutting staff.
It turned out that 60% of companies spend the saved money in order to hire new employees, raise salaries and pay bonuses. In general, the number of employees in the surveyed companies has grown by 28% since the moment they switched to cloud technology.
The ability of cloud technology to reduce the time used for finding new solutions, releasing products and applications to enter the market is one of the strongest arguments in favor of virtual offices. Ultimately, all this leads to cost reduction, 75% of the managers of medium and small companies surveyed said.
