The Biggest Mistakes of an Entrepreneur

Have you just started your director career? Here’s a great article about / as a young entrepreneur (and we don’t exactly mean age).

"Fresh" managers
and entrepreneurs face many difficulties and make mistakes due to the lack of managerial experience. While developing the company requires skills and strategies, it is important not to control every move and constantly tell employees how to do their job.

If you were recently promoted or have just started a business, here are
5 mistakes with serious consequences, which you should avoid when leading a team of people:

1. Coming with instructions

Often, the boss approaches the employee and starts teaching him how to work. But this is not the right approach. Moreover, it really demotivates staff. Employees lose confidence in themselves and their abilities and stop manifesting any initiative.

Instead, it's worth
talking to people, helping them find the right solution. This is best done with conversations that lead them to the right methods, rather than via ready-made orders. It is also important to listen to the opinions of team members and make sure you receive timely feedback. This will help you find more interesting ideas and increase your authority.

2. Being unstable

A new and young manager can begin to enthusiastically and chaotically share tasks with the team. The staff do not understand which tasks are a priority and do everything they can to get the job done. Then comes the deadline for an important project, which is not ready due to thousands of inconsistent instructions. In addition, instructions without a logical string make people confused.

3. Controlling everything

At first, directors want to know everything that's going on and approve of every move. This generates situations where, without his direct approval, employees can not even write a comment on behalf of the company. This state of affairs blocks the activity and slows down the pace. In addition, in this situation, people lose faith in themselves and do not feel enough responsibility for their work.

This mistake is common among startups, where one person performs all the functions. Even if the team grows, the founder will try to control everything and intervene at every stage. In the end, he will find out that this behavior is only harmful.

4. Swearing

At first, novice leaders can easily lose their patience and shout. This behaviour might motivate some employees, but most of them understand that screaming is helpless. If you have to raise your voice to make people work, you have already lost.

5. Making empty promises

It would be good to keep in mind the promises you make and do not forget to keep them. Instead of grand and unrealistic goals, set easy-to-accomplish mini-tasks, this will inspire the team more than your fantasies.

On the other hand, any company gets many opportunities and offers from various partners. In such cases, do not mention signing a contract in front of the whole team until you have reached an agreement and really concluded a contract. In this way, employees will see that all your promises are fulfilled.

Do not speak behind others’ backs
and do not bring empty hope - this will help avoid rumors and gossip within the company.

Are you making these mistakes too? Have you ever thought about their effect?
