Things that All Start-ups Must Know About Logos

If we would ask you to name a few logos that come to mind in the first place, what would you name? Perhaps your list would contain brands such as Apple, Nike, Windows, Google, etc. Why?
Think about why these names come to your mind, while, at the same time, you can’t remember the name or logo of the store next door?

The ideas behind these designs
may be why you recall them so easily. Such logos were designed to stay in the mind of people, while the rest were not. So, what can a start-up do to create a logo that remains imprinted in the minds of people?

1. Inspiration

You are not the first person to develop a logo. Thousands of people have already done this and managed to win the hearts of customers around the world. You need to find a way to reach your target audience with your logo, which will then become a unique identification of your presence. So how do you approach this issue?

Get inspired from others! People generate ideas, so why not take something from here and there, combine everything and see what exactly fits your business.

2. Originality and uniqueness

You conducted research and collected ideas, combining all this in order to create a logo for your business. But, you do not use the same concepts!

A logo is a unique identification point for your business. If you use about the same logo as your competitor, with some differences in color or design, no one will think about you. People will think that someone can’t even create a unique design for himself, how can he then offer a product or solution that is different from his competitor?

3. Name

In the case of start-up entrepreneurs, as a rule, there are not enough ideas on where to start when it comes to choosing a name. At the same time, they forget about other important tasks, while thinking only about the name.

You must work on other important aspects of your logo. There’s not enough time to spend it thinking! You need to work before someone steals your business idea.

4. Trends do not matter

What will happen to your logo in 10 years? Will it be just as relevant? Do you really think you can find the answer to these questions? Nothing is eternal. Technology is evolving because we renounce the old things. Why worry about the future?

Think about today and work on your design. Forget what comes next. Focus on what's cool now and work on your logo.

5. Hire an expert to create the design.

Even if you draw well, keep your drawing skills aside! Do not put your business at risk just because you think you are a great artist. When it comes to logo design, it’s best to hire an expert graphic designer, because he is the one who has a very clear idea of how your logo should look like in various media, applications and on different devices.

Spend some money and make a beautiful logo!

6. Colors and fonts

When choosing a color for your logo, never consider the ones used by your biggest competitors. Your potential customers have already seen all this, so nothing new will happen to them. Moreover, choosing the right font has the same meaning as the color of your logo.

7. What is right for your business?

Is there any specific type of logo that fits harmoniously into your business? It is unlikely that you will get at least a rough answer to this question. It all depends on the idea itself. In this case, only a professional designer who has worked in various fields and has sufficient experience in your specific niche can help you.

8. Types of logos

There are certain types of logos that you should be aware of before designing your own. Make sure that the type you choose meets your business needs:

Letter logos: Facebook, IBM, CNN, etc.

Graphic logos: symbols which play an important role in logo design. Think of Whatsapp, Instagram and KFC.

Abstract logos: they do not imply any super meaning, just like the famous Nike checkmark.

Verbal Logos: Google is one of the best examples of verbal logos. They can be single words or abbreviations of several letters.

9. Readability

An important factor to consider when designing logos is that it should be clear and clean. Do not invent something excessive. People should understand what the logo means and clearly see the message that it conveys.

10. Relevance

Your logo is a representation of your business. For example, if you conduct a female cosmetics business and you use images of tomatoes, then people will obviously associate it with a food brand, leading to confused customers.

By the way, using a mascot in your logo might be a good idea, for example, like Mail Chimp.
