While setting up a startup, few people think of minimalism. Everyone believes that opulence and ambition means success. Still, ambitions are often the main obstacle that lay in the way of achieving real goals.
What can get in the way of your entrepreneurial success and how to avoid doing too much and losing it all? See below. ↓.
Set fewer tasks
Do not force yourself too hard to determine all possible tasks and the desired results. Firstly, decide how many tasks you would like to set. Three is the optimal number, two - the ideal. This way, you’ll concentrate the company's energy into a strong arrow that will reach its target and outpace your competitors.
Employ fewer people
The biggest difficulties in a company are always related to people, especially when the company grows fast and begins to sacrifice quality. Try to move forward without expanding your staff. Certainly, there are several reasonable solutions. Work with the existing team, optimize profit before tax. You need a battle division, not an entire army.
Produce less goods
You often hear other CEO’s say: "We already have a customer base, so we can expand and start selling X as well". Remember that new products should appear only when you are already firmly "rooted" in the market, or if the original product has stopped generating revenue.
Free your brain from unnecessary projects
Multitasking does not appear out of nowhere: it slips slowly but surely and hides behind good intentions. New, bold ideas are great, they can open new doors to your business. Still, you should set a limit for such projects. If you see that you are lacking the time, abandon them. Ignoring ideas to avoid deadlock is a reasonable decision.
Attract fewer investors
You’d surely like to become a company that receives money from 30 investors. At one point, you’ll have to automate and record the calls you make to investors. This often becomes a huge waste of time, because you just have to let them know what's going on in the company. Remember that many investors = a lot of meaningless bureaucracy, so don’t plunge into every offer.
Say "No"
When you focus on achieving your goals, learn to say NO to others. It might even take 10 years to learn to feel good even when you miss some opportunities.
Find the balance
Being inspired by your own ambitions makes you not realize that you have too many tasks. It's hard to look at yourself from another perspective, so find someone to help you with that. A colleague, a mentor, a friend or even a diary - anything that will stop you in time and will not let you get overwhelmed.
Make "less" a habit
Minimization in business is not new, it’s an established order. You might always be in a hurry to succeed in doing more, thinking about all the opportunities you just can’t lose. Still, it would be much healthier and reasonable to catch the wave of minimalism and hold it.
Save this list and read it at least once a week. It will help you get back to reality and remember to hold it steady.
